SA I think I have figured it out. By the time I have gotten to the fourth or fifth page. You have captured my mind with what you have written on the pages of each book you write. It is almost like I have actually become a large part of what is happening on the pages of your novels. By then I have been sucked into the story so hard that I can not seem to stop reading each book til I have reached the end of the book. There is only one great big problem with that. When I am finished with each book I just wish that it had taken ten times as long to get to the end. Problem when I did get to the end of this book is it teased me with the fact that there were at least two more books that are almost on the shelves to be read. I guess it is one of my biggest problems. I always have to hurry up and wait for the next book or in this case books to come out so I can spend a day involved with the great worlds you have created for us. Thanks SAdray

Juliette Dream Ashes of the Realm series Book 1 eBook Saxon Andrew Derek Cheido Frank MacDonald Reviews
I enjoyed Book One very much. I like the concept and the characters. I amazes me at the number of real good SF writers that have original fantastic worlds to share with me. They also have messages that our Congress and Senate could learn from. I won't spoil the story, but suggest you get this one!
DO NOT read this book if you do not want to be tied down to reading the whole series! Mr. Andrews spins this series into an addictive drug for the die hard SF readers addiction. Once you read #1 you will be addicted to Saxon Andrews and his Family Oriented style of Si Fi writing. You are forewarned this series IS addictive.
All in all, the "Ashes of the Realm" books are a good read. The story is a little simple, probably geared more towards mid to late teens. The plotline is very convenient, and character development is lacking. The biggest issue I have while reading these is the lack of proofreading. The grammatical and punctuation errors are too many to count, and they're like little mental speedbumps as I read. Again, these are good stories and I've enjoyed all four books, but they really should have been edited before being published.
Mr. Andrew has come up with a very repetitive formula that he uses again and again in his books, but I must admit that it is a successful one. Despite knowing what to expect throughout the book, it still remains enjoyable now the 8th time around. I will say that the pacing of the book threw me off a bit since the premise of this new series is sort of a reboot to a divided, post-apocalyptic universe. I thought the main protagonist would spend more time unifying and improving his fledgling community. I'll just say the pacing is considerably faster than what I imagined, and that makes me look forward to the next installment. I will say that this is generally an upbeat sci-fi read where the good guys will come out ahead in the end, and the bad guys are made into allies. Definitely read the first series first. As long as SA keeps the price reasonable and continues to entertain me, I will gladly continue buying his books as soon as I know they are available.
The principles of a young man reveals the true meaning of defending those that are not capable of defending themselves. This leads to a new beginning for those that seek to live in peace. He finds that there are others that will follow his beliefs and strive to do what's right. It's these core principles that create a starting point to new relations. The end for those that choose to rule for their own selfish needs is coming but will it be in time before more are conquered or destroyed. The Holy Stars Realms has been gone for thousands of years but there are some who see that this young man may be the one to bring freedom back....
Saxon Andrew's works are mostly really fun, easy to read books that don't require too much hard thinking and wondering on your own. However, just when you think you have something figured out, he surprises you significantly and takes things off in a completely unexpected direction. I LOVE to find books, or better yet, a series, that I can read multiple times, and all of his that I've read so far fit that bill perfectly. I completed the "Annihilation", and the "Ashes" series and enjoyed them thoroughly. I've downloaded the first books in a couple of other short series and am quite anxious to start them. And I have no doubt, I will certainly be rereading them all a number of times during the remainder of my life.
I've read several of this authors books and this one in pretty much in the same style as the others, though this seems to be written for a young (child) audience to a degree. We are introduced to Scotty on a planet that has suffered after the Realm collapsed. We see Scotty do many things to bring his planet to a better place but depending on how deep you want to get into the book, they are conflicting in nature. Honor and keeping one's word(Promise) plays a large role in Scotty's peoples lives. The tribe get brutal when honor is violated or even thought to be violated.
Beyond the honor quirks, Scotty gets to interact and command sentient space ships as they get introduced to the rest of the universe, which is a wild/wooly place. Without getting into spoilers, we have a dichotomy in how things are done and done without much real thought into the possibilities that one has with super ships and how to do things with those amazing ships.
That's pretty much why I consider this a children's sci-fi book. I will read the next books in the series as I do enjoy reading and it piques my interest to see how the author takes this. I am a kid at heart...(so the wife says.. )
